Endless Mike And The Beagle Club

February 4, 2007 @ Charm City Art Space in Baltimore, MD

Overall Rating: 9.5

Music Quality: 9.5

Production: 6.5

I almost missed this show. I'm forgetful. Fortunately, I received a friendly phone-call, from an old friend, reminding me about this show.

I was not able to stay for the entire show, so I apologize to any of the other bands who played. I'm sure you killed it! I do know that the Flash Darlings were rocking n rolling as I was leaving. You should check them out at http://myspace.com/flashdarlings

Anyways, on with the show!

Endless Mike and the Beagle Club are absolutely amazing live. It's messy and chaotic and energetic. This rock n roll with A.D.D., and it wouldn't be nearly as special if they approached the stage any differently.

The sound system at the venue wasn't too great, but enough people in the audiance knew the words so it didn't matter. This is one of the reasons why I absolutely love this band. It's a sing-a-long every time. The best thing about Endless Mike sing-a-longs is the fact that the lyrics actually have substance! (I know, it's a rarity these days.) I mean, it feels pretty great to scream out, "I know where my taxes go but my taxes know nothing about me" and know that everybody in the room feels the same way. If I'm not mistaken, this is what being a part of a scene or a community is all about.

This is an honest rock band. There are no stage gimmicks or props or expensive equipment. There are no egos or rock-star attitudes. Endless Mike and the Beagle Club let their music do the talking. Frankly, when the music is this pure, this intelligent and this catchy, you don't need anything else. I know I wouldn't complain if a few more bands came along that had similar attitudes and views. It would definitely be better than listening to all the garbage that's littering the rock clubs throughout the nation.

Anyways, I got off on a little rant there...

I strongly urge you to catch an Endless Mike and the Beagle Club show. I promise, you'll feel a little less jaded and alone when you leave. Oh, and if you haven't picked up a copy of "The Husky Tenor," you probably should. It's one of the best releases from 2006.
